My name is Carlos Saavedra and I am a creative graphic and website designer from Waterloo, ON. I currently work at Chicopee Ski & Summer Resort as their Communications & Design Coordinator.

I am 21 years old and just completed my four-year program at Wilfrid Laurier University studying Communication Studies with a minor in Business Administration. This program not only studies the techniques and modes of advertising and design, but it also focuses on the many ways print and web media affect society. Studying the social theory of design is important for a designer as it allows them to be effective at communicating to target groups while also being responsible and mindful of its effects.

I love design. I have a rooted passion for communication and branding, and the creative juices that flow with each new project. Design, whether it be print, web, or photography, is not a hobby or work; it's a lifestyle. As a designer I see typography in every piece of literature, I see primary colours in posters, and I study the CSS files of every amazing website that I stumble upon. To say it simply: I live and breath design.

When I'm not reading about design on my spare time, I'm volunteering my time to the Eastbridge Neighbourhood Association as their newsletter editor. I'm also working towards my green belt in Shaolin Kung Fu. I enjoy taking photos of architecture and nature, my favourite restaurant is Ye's Sushi, my favourite book is 1984, and my favourite colour is blue.
